Privacy Policy
Effective September 1, 2026
Nerdino Studios ("we", "us") makes games and runs this website. This policy explains what information we collect when you use our website (nerdinostudios.com) and our games, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. It currently covers Battle for Velune on every platform we ship it on, including iOS.
We keep this short and specific on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email us at hi@nerdinostudios.com.
The short version
- You can play Battle for Velune as a guest without giving us a name, email, or any other personal information.
- If you sign in with Apple, Google, or Discord, we receive the identifier and email address that provider shares with us.
- We store the display name you choose and the matches you play.
- We do not show ads, we do not sell your data, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
- You can delete your account, and everything tied to it, from inside the game at any time.
Battle for Velune
Account information
Battle for Velune offers two ways to play:
- Guest account. We create a random account identifier on your device. No personal information is required. You pick a display name that other players can see.
- Signed-in account. You can sign in with Apple, Google, or Discord, or link one of those to an existing guest account. We receive the account identifier and email address that provider shares with us, plus a name if you choose to share it. Sign in with Apple lets you hide your real email address from us.
For every account we store your account identifier, display name, whether the account is a guest, whether you have completed the tutorial, and when the account was created and last updated.
Gameplay data
When you play, we store the lobbies you create or join, the matches you play, the moves made in each match, and the results. Completed matches are kept as match history and as replays that other players in that match can watch. Match history and replays show the display name you used at the time.
Push notifications
If you turn on notifications, we store a device token issued by Apple so we can tell you when it is your turn, when a match is found, or when a rematch is offered. Notifications never include other players' names. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings, and the token is deleted with your account.
Gameplay analytics
We use PostHog to measure whether sharing a match result leads to a new challenge: whether a share was sent, whether a challenge lobby was created, and whether the invited player joined. These events are sent from our servers, not your device, and include only the outcome, your platform, the game version, and a random identifier for the share. They never include your name, email, lobby codes, or anything you typed.
Error and crash reports
We use Sentry to find and fix bugs. When something goes wrong, the game sends a report containing the error, the app version and platform, basic device and operating system information, and your account identifier so we can reproduce the problem. On an error, Sentry may also capture a short replay of the screens leading up to it, with all on-screen text masked. We have disabled Sentry's collection of personal information such as IP addresses and email addresses. Reports are sent through our own servers, not directly to Sentry.
What we do not collect
Battle for Velune has no advertising and no in-app purchases. We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, or anything else on your device. We do not use your data for advertising or profiling, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
This website
- Analytics. We use PostHog to understand which pages and links people use. It records page views and clicks along with your browser and rough location derived from your IP address.
- Newsletter. If you sign up for our newsletter, we send your email address to Loops, the service we use to deliver it. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
- Email. If you email us, we keep the message so we can reply.
How we use information
We use the information above to run the game and its multiplayer features, match you with opponents, deliver notifications you asked for, keep your account working across devices, fix bugs and outages, prevent cheating and abuse, send newsletters you subscribed to, and understand how the game and our website are used. We do not use it for anything else.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We share it only with the service providers that run our infrastructure, and only as needed to provide the service:
- Supabase for sign-in and our player database.
- Cloudflare for hosting, game servers, match storage, and this website.
- Apple, Google, and Discord when you use them to sign in.
- Apple for push notifications on iOS.
- Sentry for error and crash reporting.
- PostHog for gameplay and website analytics.
- Loops for the newsletter.
Other players can see your display name, your moves, and the results of matches you play with them. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our players and services.
How long we keep it
We keep account information for as long as your account exists. Match history and replays are kept so that your opponents' records stay intact. Error reports are kept for a limited period, typically 90 days. Gameplay analytics contain no direct identifiers and are kept in aggregate, as are website analytics.
Deleting your account
You can delete your Battle for Velune account from inside the game. Open Settings and choose Delete account. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. When you delete your account:
- Any active matches are recorded as losses and your opponents get the win.
- Your account identifier, email address, push notification token, and any linked sign-in providers are deleted. If you signed in with Apple, we also ask Apple to revoke the connection.
- Your name in match history is replaced with "Deleted player". Existing replays keep the display name you used at the time but are no longer linked to you.
If you cannot access the game, email hi@nerdinostudios.com from the address on your account and we will delete it for you.
Your choices and rights
You can change your display name in the game at any time. You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it by emailing hi@nerdinostudios.com. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any email. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local privacy law, and we will honor them.
Children
Our games and website are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Guest play does not require any personal information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Security
Sign-in tokens are stored in your device's secure storage on native platforms. Data is encrypted in transit, and access to our systems is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so we ask that you keep your sign-in provider credentials safe.
Where data is processed
Our service providers operate globally, so your information may be stored and processed in the United States and other countries.
Changes to this policy
When we make meaningful changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, tell you in the game or by email.
